Most Awarded at the Great Taste Chocolate Awards 2011
25.07.2011-Last year we were proud to have been the most awarded luxury artisan chocolatier after winning 11 prestigious 2010 Great Taste Awards. This year we have once again achieved the same success. With three 3-Star, one 2-Star and four 1-Star awards, Demarquette was made the greatest winner within the Chocolate categories for the third year running by an independent panel of judges for excellence in fine food, provenance and great taste.
The Great Taste Awards, which is organised by the Guild of Fine Food, strives to recognise and celebrate excellence. As an authoritative, independent standard for fine food, it has become the most trusted benchmark for consumers, inspiring companies to achieve the highest standards. From the start, all foods have been blind tasted by a panel of independent judges from all parts of the fine food business, with gold awards going to those products considered faultless.
Demarquette is proud to have received 8 awards this year, and for the third year running achieving the most number of awards out of all entrants within the chocolate categories. Out of a record number of 7482 product entries from over 1500 companies, 1686 products were awarded 1-Star, 608 a 2-star and only 114 products received the 3-star gold awards.
The highest 3-star accolade was given to the 'Royal Merina Chocolate', the 'Roasted Hazelnut Pebble', and the 'Kentish Cobnut Caramel Praline'.
'Spiced Apple Caramel', which is part of the 2011 Festive Reindeer Chocolate collection, received a 2-Star award.
And 1-Star Gold goes to the 'Pistachio Pebble', 'Almond Pebble', 'Rose Caramel' and the 'American Pecan & Maple Caramel Praline'.
Furthermore the 'Royal Merina Chocolate' has been nominated for a Great Taste Award Trophy of Best Speciality from the South East, which will be announced at the GTA Awards Presentation Dinner at the Royal Garden hotel, London on Monday 5th September, 2011.
Master Chocolatier Marc Demarquette comments: "The Guild of Fine Food is one of the key structures that holds Britain's fine food industry together. The distinctive black and gold award symbol provides consumers with an independent benchmark for highest quality provenance, traceability, trustworthiness, excellence in production and above all, great taste. I am extremely proud of our success and honoured that our chocolate creations and hard work have been rewarded in this manner. It certainly spurs us on to continue to deliver exceptional chocolates for our customers."
